5 Ways to Create Luxury Retreats at Home

Want to turn your bedroom into the luxury retreat that you’re dreaming of? Luxury hotels all have one very common thing that everyone talks about and that is the bed.  Some call theirs heavenly or perfect but we’re all in agreement that there are some hotel beds that provide a great night’s sleep.

We could argue about whose bed is better but the easy part for us to recreate at home are the little extras and each hotel has it’s own signature collection that really stands out.  So, how about adding a few of those smaller items to your home that will help create that luxury retreat you’re craving?

1. Decorative Pillows

You’ll find plenty of linens and towels offered for sale at some of the world’s favorite luxury hotel online shops but if you want to start with one small change that you’ll love, why not go with a decorative pillow?

Want to bring a little bit of New Orleans home?  The W Hotels has French Quarter pillows, my personal favorite is the Bow Tie Pillow.

Or looking for the bow tie look for less?

2. Smell That?

It’s just not a luxury retreat if it doesn’t smell absolutely lovely.  Freshly cleaned linens are one part of it, for an extra aromatherapy boost try a candle or room spray that smells just like that one time when you were in… or maybe you want the scent of future memories.

3. The Robe

Hotel Robe

Do you ever get really excited when you see that robe hanging there, welcoming you to just relax? No worries, you can add one to your retreat collection at home from a large selection of hotels for all budgets.

4. Bath & Body

The best part of pampering yourself sometimes, is the bath experience.

5. OMG – Slippers!

My favorite part of awesome hotel stays are the slippers and I just found out that I could’ve brought some of those home with me!  I actually travel with this exact pair of flexible slipper socks but if I see the hotel slippers, these can take the night off.

If you can only splurge on one thing to take you away on a luxury retreat, I would (obviously) go with the slippers.  Most range from about $20 – 30. (OK, and some bath and body goodies.)

And if you’re an Amazon fan, there’s plenty of options there too.

Happy wandering at home!

Remember luxury is subjective, just treating yourself to something out of the ordinary can be enough to make us feel special.  You don’t have to buy it or pay a lot for it, you can even make it yourself.  As long as it makes you feel good, that’s all that matters.  Luxury retreats at home are whatever we want them to be.
